Giuseppe Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera (1859) receives a radically modern reinterpretation in Noa Naamat’s new production, mirrored in Bettina John’s bold set and costume design. This classic opera feels particularly urgent today, resonating in a world where assassinations and political intrigue remain tragically present on the global stage. Technology plays a central role in the production: Ulrica, traditionally a fortune-teller, is reimagined as the head of the Department of Technology and Innovation, highlighting the ways modern tools intersect with power and influence.
